KAYIHURA ORGANIZING PARTY TO CELEBRATE MAKING UP WITH M7

A report in Saturday Monitor shows, that having been convinced that the alleged criminal information previously supplied to him by ISO wasn't credible, President Museveni has once again warmed up to Gen Kale Kayihura. That Museveni sometime back ordered the Defense Ministry to buy two brand new posh vehicles for Gen Kayihura whose movement restrictions have also since been relaxed. The newspaper says that in fact on Museveni's prompting, Kayihura's charges in the court martial are all going to be dropped and that the man from Kisoro might after all be on his way back to government. The newspaper says that, having realized the forgiving disposition the President has lately developed towards Gen Kayihura, even the military court authorities have relaxed Kayihura's bail conditions whereby he won't be required to report to Makindye every Monday anymore. It's not clear how the President, who previously used deragatory terms like Kawukumi (weevil) will go about rebuilding his long serving General's image in the public. There are also Ministers who have publicly been very critical of Gen Kayihura thinking he was done and gone forever. It will interesting to see how such Ministers will go about mending fences with a resurging Kayihura. Some sources say that even after being declared a free man, Gen Kayihura might opt to totally retire to private life at his farm in Lyantonde Kashagama because there is a standing offer by the European Investment Bank to fund the transformation of his farm into a model agri-business project for the export market. Even in his absence, his son Kale Jr has been carrying on with the negotiations with the Europeans. Actually even on the day he was picked by Gen Mbaddi for his eventual confinement in Makindye, Gen Kayihura had a EIB delegation in his compound. They had come to study the viability of funding the modernization of his farm and the President is understood to be supportive of the EIB idea to boost his General's farming activities.
