However, on Tuesday, they were told by DPC Joel Tubanone that a directive was issued from above to have them rearrested.
Aaron Olao, one of the journalists whilst a presenter with shut radio unity took to Facebook and wrote:
"Our bond has been cancelled. We have been rearrested. The Lira DPC says he has orders from above that we should be taken inside.
"All the 8 of us had appeared to extend our bond will be sent back."
On Monday, this contemporary news website contacted Uganda Communications Commission [UCC] if she was aware of radio closure. However, an official who spoke to our reporter sounded unaware of any negative development on radio unity.
"Which radio is that?," UCC official asked our news reporter, pledging to follow it up and revert.
This news website has exclusively learnt that teams from UCC and Unity Fm top managers were in a closed door meeting today in Lira town over the radio.
No outcome of that meeting has been made public.
Similarly, Lira district officials, headed by Lira RDC, Milton Odongo had a closed door meeting on Tuesday in the office of Lira LC5 Chairman, Alex Patrick Oremo Alot.
