NEW DRUG COULD CURE HIV-AIDS
Scientists have developed a drug which destroys 99.9 percent of HIV and IDS in the human body within only four weeks of treatment. According to Daily Monitor of today.
President Yoweri Museveni should be credited to have come out open in the fight against HIV-AIDS scourge in 1987 after he had been tipped off by the then Cuban leader Fidel Castro in 1986 during a non Aligned Movement summit in Harare Zimbabwe.
President Milton Obote and his health advisors should be credited for having sent blood samples to US in 1982 which confirmed that victims of Kaseensero on the shores of lake Victoria in now Kyotera District, were suffering from HIV AIDS but not as a result of omuteego (witch craft from Bukerebwe islanders in Mwanza, Tanzania. However he should share blame for having sat on the information. Their reasoning was that it could spoil Uganda's image which had already been spoiled by atrocities under Idi Amin regime. That is why the rumor of witchcraft spread far and wide.
President Idi Amin should also be credited to have announced on Radio Uganda on Thursday May 11th 1978 on 08.00 pm news that a dangerous STD which make people slim had hit Tanzania and cautioned Ugandan men against Tanzanian women. People may have regarded as propaganda war against an enemy country, as he repeated it at the peak of Uganda-Tanzania war of 1979. But later he was proven right.
