Great men have always placed tremendous importance on selflessness and sacrifice. They were always prepared to lay down their lives willingly in the pursuit of a just cause. One such great man was Chris Hani. This comrade was among the most radical Anti-Apartheid liberation fighter, and supporter of the armed liberation struggle in Zimbabwe, one of the few leaders that actually fought on the ground successfully pushing back the British colonial death squads in 1979.

Is it any surprise then that Hani was assassinated? in 1993 Anti-communist and Pro-Apartheid agents of imperialism shot Hani in the head and back as he stepped out of his car outside his home. As one of the preferred candidates, alongside Mandela, to rule the people of South Africa post Apartheid, his death was a huge blow to the movement for wealth and land redistribution. In fact the loss of Hani was felt even greater as Mandela compromised on the 'Freedom charter' that promised the people of South Africa the lands that were forcibly taken from their ancestors by the white colonial settlers, and to dismantle 'white monopoly capital' that for hundreds of years controlled the mineral rich resources in the region.

To Comrade Hani, death in the cause for the complete freedom and liberation of Africa was the greatest sacrifice he could make, saying "I've never wanted to spare myself because I feel there are people who are no longer around and died for this struggle. What right do I have to hold back, to rest, to preserve my health, to have time with my family, when there are other people who are no longer alive - when they sacrificed what is precious: namely life itself!" — Chris Hani

Hani is just one among a series of other revolutionary Pan-Africanists whom we are being made to deliberately forget in favor of western colonial propaganda that produces only politically myopic, ignorant, and reactionary Africans.
