{UAH} Happy holidays to you All!
New year is just a few days away and nothing much changed over the year. I paid more attention to politics in 2018 than in 2017. Yoweri Museveni , corruption, football, moral posturing fill up too much of our time, and no one ever seems to change his or her mind.
As for Museveni , the commentariat's basic fear is that he will not leave power peacefully, and he has slowed down the opposition gravy train in unpredictable ways by mainly dividing them. As for corruption, I was surprised to learn today through a Kiiza Besigye press conference that refugee numbers were inflated, and that their money was stolen too. I've also leant that we spent $476 m on the Entebbe- Express highway which is just 51 km, which is absurd.
All those stuff are depressing. I shall henceforth try to focus on positive things in 2019 God willing, mostly on charitable causes. I also intend to immerse myself into particular thinkers by joining in with them in depth.
I may have fallen out with some of Bobi Wine's supporters because of my strong inclination towards Besigye, but please don't take it personal. This is a struggle , not a competition, and we aren't meant to agree on everything. What I do in my political activism is to champion, demystify and describe the leaders of various parties, works and people I admire, and, as appropriate, puncture inflated reputations.
I am eager to share my enthusiasm for, say, my favorite MP (I think I would pick Hon.Beti Nambooze) or my favorite religious leader, Imam Kasozi, a minority opinion, I suspect, but what a thrilling contribution by these two people to our society in their respective roles. To say that something is your favorite is not to insist that it has to be anyone else's or that it belongs at the top of a list of all-time greats. So Please, don't call me a FDC radical, or Besigye spokes person, or anything like that, just because i rate Besigye Kiiza higher than the person you support. We are all in this together. Little vibes here and there shouldn't divide the opposition or Ugandans. I'm open-minded but not a radical relativist. I have so many friends who are NRM or Musevenist, and I respect them.
Happy holidays to you all!
