Deputy President William Ruto was one of the dignitaries who graced installation ceremony of Reverend Philip Anyolo as Kisumu Catholic Diocese Archbishop on Saturday, January 12.
After speeches from local political leaders, it was turn for Ruto to address the huge gathering shorty after Opposition chief Raila Odinga invited him to the podium.

Ordinarily, the deputy president would speak last being the senior most government official and represents his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta at any function should the latter be absent.
But that was not the case in this particular function where Ruto stunned the audience when he invited Defense Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo to deliver Uhuru's speech. Government officials and political and religious leaders present murmured while others expressed shock.
"Interesting matters. Raila invites DP Ruto to speak, the DP Speaks and invites CS Rachael Omamo to deliver Uhuru's speech. Would have sworn the work of a deputy is to deputise," Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo observed.
While the State House might not have been aware of the DP's attendance, the nitty gritty may confirm rumours of the widening cracks within the Jubilee party leadership. Earlier, however, TUKO.co.ke understands Ruto had met with Uhuru during a wedding ceremony of Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi's daughter.
On Saturday, January 5, Jubilee Party vice chairperson David Murathe resigned and made it clear working with Ruto had become so untenable. Prior to his resignation, the politician had announced he would move to the Supreme Court to block Ruto from running for presidency in 2022.
