{UAH} England World Cup-winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks dies
GOAL-KEEPER GORDON BANKS DIES: One of the greatest goal-keepers of all time, Gordon Banks remains firmly rooted in the echelons of English and world soccer as an icon. Here is a man that for almost 20 years, whether playing in the English league or in international competitions, graced the goalposts with finesse and truculent resilience rarely seen in the modern keeper. His agility was similar to that of a cat in motion, as was his ability to read the game and intuitive ability to decipher bad intentions or moves from opposing strikers and to organise his defenders to counteract. Most defenders preferred to have Gordon Banks behind their backs. Banks is best remembered by football lovers by the magical one-handed save from a goal bound header by the great Pele in the 1970 World Cup- a save which is still considered today to be the best ever save made by a goal-keeper. Gordon Banks lifted the World Cup in 1966, the last time England won the competition. He will be missed by all football lovers around the world. .RIP

"It is with great sadness that we announce that Gordon passed away peacefully overnight.
We are devastated to lose him but we have so many happy memories and could not have been more proud of him.
