As I and millions of Ugandans mourn and remember the assassination of my former Boss Dr Andrew Lutaakome Kayiira affectionately known as "Kyayirambuga", I wouldlike to focus not on Museveni who killed him but on those Baganda who betrayed him and conspired in the construction of his downfall. 
Dr Kayiira's commitment to the fight for our country's freedom was unquestionable. He was one of many who fought against the Idi Amin dictatorship and was an integral part of the Moshi strategy that ousted General Amin's government. 
In 1979 when President Yusuf Lule was forced out of office by the military council led by Paul Muwanga and Yoweri Museveni, it was Dr Kayiira who stood with the suffering masses when Museveni as minister of defence unleashed the UNLA to quash the 'NO LULE NO WORK' demonstrations in which hundreds were killed. 
It was Dr Kayiira who stood by Professor Lule while he was incarcerated by President Julius Nyerere and Dr Milton Obote in Tanzania. 
However, when Dr Kayiira and Yoweri Museveni went to the bush to fight against the Obote 2 regime, Professor Lule elected to work with his tormentor Museveni who had brutalised him during his time as president instead of working with his ally Dr Kayiira who had supported him during his 69 fateful days in office. 
Dr Kayiira loved his Nation of Buganda and one of his dreams was to work for the establishment of a Federal system of administration in the republic of Uganda. However, the influential people in the Buganda establishment advised Prince Muweenda Mutebi not to work with Dr Kayiira during the guerrilla war and advised the Prince to work with Museveni. They preferred their king to be a beggar under a Munyarwanda than being under a fellow Muganda. The Baganda acted as they did in 1961 when they supported Obote instead of Ben Kiwanuka. 
In the UPDF today there are individuals who were and continue to be promoted to high ranks not because they are great fighters with brilliant military minds but because they actively participated in the elimination of Dr Andrew Kayiira. No need to mention names but they know themselves and all I can say to them is "Good Luck" to them but I am sure their day will soon come. 
For the UFM politicians who abandoned Dr Kayiira's philosophy of Freedom and Fairness for all in order to fill their bellies with Museveni's favours, all I can say to them is that your selfishness has destroyed our once beautiful country. 
REST IN PEACE KYAYIRAMBUGA. I WILL NEVER BETRAY YOU OR YOUR BELIEFS. 
The battle continues.
