{UAH} Comic Relief donations down £8m in wake of row over 'white saviour' celebs

BAD DAY FOR UK CHARITY: COMIC RELIEF  Is One Of The UK's Biggest Charities. It Raises Millions Of Pounds In Donations From The UK Public Which It Uses To Support Good causes Abroad. It Is Funder Of Some Ugandan NGOs. But This year, Its Fundraising Methods Hit The Rocks, When It used This Picture Of A Ugandan Child Being Carried By A Celebrity In Its Appeals For Donations From The British People. Most Black people And Ugandans In The Diaspora Were Outraged That A Picture Of A Ugandan Child Would Be Used For Such A Campaign. Black UK Labour MP David Lammy Accused The Charity Of Wanting To Profit From The Suffering Of Ugandans, A Poverty Stricken People Who Are Already Burdened By A Very Corrupt And Brutal Tyranny Of Rwandan Outlaw Kayibanda Museveni. He Accused The Charity Of Clinging On To "A  White Saviour" Mentality, When In Reality There Is very Little That The Charity Can Do To Save The Ugandan Children From The Poverty That Museveni's Feral And Corrupt Misrule Has Reduced Them. The Much Publicised Row Has Badly Affected The Charities Bi-Annual TV Appeal, Which Saw Donations Drop By £8 Million Pounds- A Huge Dent In Its Budget. The UK Public Was Disgusted That The Charity Woould Try To Take Advantage Of The Suffering Of Ugandans And Many Refused To Pull Out Their Wallets.Cheque Books Or Bank Cards

By the end of Friday night's Red Nose Day showcase, takings were down £8million on the equivalent stage in 2017.

The total revenues are on course to be the lowest for more than a decade.

In the run-up to Red Nose Day, Mr Lammy hit out at Ms Dooley as she posted a picture of herself while filming in Uganda.

He blasted: "The world does not need any more white saviours."

But Tory MP Chris Philp said today it was his "pathetic manufactured indignation" that had cost vital cash.

Comic Relief defended its track record of bringing in millions to help disadvantaged people around the world.

But after this year's funding shortfall, Mr Lammy was criticised for his comments.

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, tweeted: "I notice David Lammy wisely keeping quiet while the UK celebrates Comic Relief #rednoseday raising millions."
