{UAH} Do not be in hurry to send your child to school
Today's parents are in a state of dilemma not knowing the right age for their child to start formal education. First, the social economic challenges of balancing work and family leave some parents with hardly a choice, but to dump their children at day care centres and pre-primary schools as early as possible!
Secondly, ICT and it's socialisation impact has sharpened judgment on a child's suitability to cope with school demands. Strangely, such judgement has been reduced to ability to watch cartoons as a measurement for readiness for school.
There is also the psychomotor and cognitive developments among children. Some babies ( I prefer to call them) begin to talk and logically manipulate things as early as two years. But does this mean they are ready for school?
Let me focus on pre-primary and primary school/education. My experience and research has been that children who start school (Baby Class) say very early tend to suffer a catch up distress effect as they progress. They might appear to cope, but in most cases, it always catches up with them, although there are exceptions.
My recommendations is that children should start Baby Class when they are at least three years. At most, the child shouldn't spend more than three months in the class as proposed below before attaining the proposed age.
