{UAH} Drought: Meat prices drop to Shs1, 000 in Nakasongola

Tony Owana,

I thought drought patterns in Uganda are predictable? So how come your feral regime, with all its visionary prowess, is constantly caught napping or plain flat-footed? Or is it simply that you are telling the people of Uganda to suck it?

Bobby

The cost of just ONE Casspir aparatheid police vehicle amount to shs 6 billion. This can purchase 50 water trucks that can be of help for farmers in Nakasongola and elsewhere in times of drought.

Min of agric please come out and explain to us, what are your roles in a catastrophe like the one happening at Nakasongola where animals are perishing away due to lack of water and food?

What do we learn from white people who manage to survive in winter with their livestock? Last year the maize prices dived to shs 150 per 1kg, and with visionary leadership in place, we expected farmers to exploit this opportunity of storing as much animal feeds as possible.

Are we fit to be called the Great lakes region? We are surrounded by Forests, Swamps, Rivers, Lakes, rather than buying aparatheid vehicles to quell riots, why don't we allocate some money for managing droughts? In this way, we can qualify to be called the bread basket of the region.

Mr Kasirye adds that the rains expected in early March have delayed, forcing herdsmen to trek distances looking for water and pasture
