Six Humberside Police officers who are being investigated for breaching their code of conduct are not those seen in a viral video on social media.

A video currently being shared on Twitter and Facebook shows several police officers in a room with a man.  One of the officers can be seen repeatedly hitting the man on the head while he tries to cover himself with his arms.

The other officers can be seen standing around the man, and a female officer is seen walking towards him.

At this point of the seconds-long video, a door is closed on the person filming and no more of the apparent brutality can be seen.

Now, Superintendent Matt Baldwin has stated these are not the same officers from Humberside Police who have been suspended during investigations for potentially breaching their professional standards of behaviour.

Superintendent Baldwin, head of professional standards, said: "We can confirm that the suspension of the six Humberside Officers last week is not in relation to the video footage currently being circulated on social media.

"Based on the uniforms being worn, the officers in the video do not appear to be Humberside Police Officers.  However, we will carry out further checks to confirm that this is the case."

Discrimination, lacking self-control and tolerance, and behaving in a way that discredits the police force are all ways an officer can breach the Standards of Professional Behaviour set out to the police.

The six constables were all suspected of breaching the code and the case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
