• President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday walked out of a Member of Parliament's speech for the second time at a burial ceremony in Murang'a County. 

  Immediately Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro took to the podium to speak at Thayu Kamau Kabugi's burial, Uhuru excused himself and only came back after the lawmaker finished his speech. 

  In his remarks, the legislator asked the president to donate at least Ksh5 million to Gitui Secondary School for development.

  Seemingly angered by the MP's request, Uhuru castigated him, making reference to the annual CDF allocations that are disbursed to constituencies. 

  "I hear some people asking for money. Account for the monies that have been allocated in your National Government Constituency Development Funds which are worth Ksh100 million instead of loitering the country with endless meetings and unending speeches," the President demanded. 

  The Nation reported that it was the second time the same was happening. A similar incident had been witnessed when the parliamentarian was speaking during Kenneth Matiba's (deceased) requiem mass in 2018. 

  It is however not clear whether the two incidences were a coincidence or intentional.

  The MP is a staunch supporter of Deputy President William Ruto and has traversed the country accompanying the DP in various functions. 

  When the lawmaker was presenting a request from his constituents for the upgrading of roads during the mass, he addressed the concerns to DP Ruto, thereby bypassing the president who had excused himself.  

  The president has in many occasions warned leaders against constant politicking and urged them to concentrate on service delivery.

  Referring back to the recent funeral of Kamau, President Kenyatta urged that the next General Election will catch many legislators flat-footed for failing to serve their constituents.

  Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was also scolded by the president for trying to convince the Head of State to go slow on the war against corruption. 

  "We were waiting for the body of the deceased to be mounted in the hearse just outside the tent when the President scolded Waititu and told him off, accusing him of playing dirty petty politics. He was very furious and the governor did not respond," an MP disclosed to Nation.

• Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, is an angry man after his billboard was pulled down in Murang'a.

  Kuria's billboard was designed to welcome visitors to the 6th Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County.

  On his Facebook page, Kuria expressed his anger following the vandalisation.

  "So someone has pulled down my billboard at Delmonte in Murang'a County. Will you also pull my presidential bid?" he posed.

  Kuria learnt about the pull down of the banner on his way to Margret Wangechi's burial, the mother to Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata.

  Speaking at St Joseph the Worker catholic church, where the funeral was presided over, Kuria stated the billboard would be replaced and guarded.

  Kuria claimed it was a planned move stating billboards placed in other parts of Kiambu and Nyeri Counties were intact.

  "I left it to the billboard agency to report to the police as I make arrangements for its replacement," he stated.

  In October 2018, the MP indicated that his name would be in the presidential ballot paper come 2022 and he would not throw his weight behind other candidates.

  He added his candidature will be driven by a resolve to address challenges facing Kenyans, including youth unemployment, fighting tribalism and ensuring effective service delivery.
