Suicide Over Heartbreak:
.
"My love, I can't find words that would form a perfect statement to express how much I love you. I have fought the battle, but it seems I am almost losing it. I only pray that God may give you guidance, love and comfort. Mum still loves you, and will always love you. Kindly, forgive me for taking my own life."

"Dad, I am sorry, but I am not able to break the news [that I am about to commit suicide. I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me."

3 minutes after posting it on facebook, 28-year Millicent Kithinji Mwiriki from Gaturi Village in South Imenti, Meru County killed hersef!

In Uganda, there is no law that punishes a person for killing oneself, in any case when you are dead, you are dead, yet one of the rationals for punishment is deterrence.

On the suicide pacts, the penal code Act defines a suicide pact as an agreement between two or more parties where each party has an intention of dying as a result of the agreement.

The law provides that on a murder case, the defence has a duty to prove that the accuse was a party to the suicide pact and that he/she also had the intention of dying under the said pact/agreement. Once it is proved as such, the murder charge reduces to manslaughter.

On aiding suicide, the law provides that a person who aids another person to end his/her own life commits a felony and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for life.

On attempted suicide, the law provides that a person who attempts to end his or her own life commits a misdemeanor.

Allaah gives the best to those who leave the choice to Him."And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is Able to do all things." (6:17)
