{UAH} ATTN. MR WBK & OCURE: MY PERSPECTIVE ON LAND.

ABOUT A DECADE OR SO BEFORE, LADIT OCAYA P' OCURE  DID INDEED OPEN MY EYES ON LAND PERSPECTIVE AMONG THE ACOLI (If only for a blinks moment).

It was during one of thosehonest discussion moments on then ACOLI FORUM and ACHOLINET.

Ocaya state then that " IN ACOLI LAND BELONG TO THE TRIBE / SOCIETY".

I was so pleased to learn that detail so I kissed my Ballentine glass a few times.

Now I do not know anymore.

For, if the land belongs to society as Ocaya Ocure said ( or perhaps says), HOW COME PEOPLE SOLD AND CONTINUE TO SELL WHAT DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM?!?!?!?!?!

In Acoli, people have sold what they called "OUR ANCESTRAL LAND". Alltså, the pieces of land which their ancestors have for generations UTILIZED without actually owning it or LEASING  it.

That the homestead utilized society land for centuries does not mean they own/owned it.

IN EFFECT, MANY PEOPLE HAVE SOLD WHAT THEY DO NOT OWN: THEY HAVE SOLD WHAT BELONGED TO SOCIETY!!!!!

The FUNDAMENTAL perspective should be, NO ONE SELL WHAT SHE OR HE DOES NOT OWN.

Equally so, NO ONE SHOULD SELL A PIECE OF LAND OR CHUNK OF LAND THEY DO NOT OWN ( or have leased).

In Acoli people have sold and continue to sell what they do not rightly own.

Each time they do not have enough money to meet the school fees or dowery, they sell a piece of land which they assert has always been their ancestral land where they have traditionally lived.

BUT, DOES THAT EQUATE OWNING THE PIECE OR CHUNK OF LAND IF THEY NEVER LEASED IT?!?!??
Ladit Ocaya Ocure, are you reading me?

I am beginning to think Acoli does not need the RWODI and their LAWII RWODI anymore since we no longer have any society land / tribal land anymore.

WHY SHOULD ACOLI HAVE THAT INSTITUTION WHEN THERE IS NO LAND ATTRIBUTED TO IT?
