{UAH} BANYALANGO
Alan Barigye/ Annette,
-- Did you know that prior to 1986, there were very many Banyankole living in Lango- the Banyalango? They had lived there for generations, and had integrated into the local culture and spoke the language, but still kept their language. This London friend of mine is one of them..She left Lango with her parents in 1986 after Kayibanda divided the country along ethnic lines, but she is now planning to return to Lango because it is the only home she knows.. She wants to take her children there to visit as they have never been there as they are London born.. But the baganda used to be are the majority bantu tribe in Lango, as they used to form almost 10% of the population of Dokolo in 1986. Most of these bantu tribes left following Kayibanda's ethnic cleansing policies, but many are now beginning to go back as they sense the end of the Kayibanda era and the end of ethnic divisionism.
