Edmonton stabbings: man charged over five knife attacks
Jason Kakaire, 29, to appear in court today on charges of attempted murder
A 29-year-old man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder following a four-day stabbing spree in Edmonton, north London.
Local resident Jason Kakaire will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court today. He was arrested on Tuesday, hours after a fifth victim, a man in his 30s, was stabbed.
The other four victims were attacked over the weekend, "leaving two critically hurt and one with potentially life-changing injuries", Sky Newsreports.
The spate of stabbings, which come amid a wider knife crime epidemic in the capital, has "led to widespread concern in the local community, with schools put into lockdown and children warned not to walk home alone", The Daily Telegraph reports.
Scotland Yard police investigating the stabbings, which appear to have been random, said that they are not looking for any other suspects.
