{UAH} How Africans die, is a socking experience!
How Africans die, is a socking experience!
With great sadness, I announce the demise of the young woman I
mentioned in the article below. She must have been between 23 -26
years. The young mother leaves behind two very small children.
Her young husband an hour ago, 04.45 a.m. came and gave me this very sad news.
Today is Labour Day – Ugandans must morn their dead workers forced
into modern slavery by government inaction to resolve poverty issues
and give them adequate medicare insurance. It is sad.
Yesterevening there was a program about human labour exported to Arab
countries on KFM. One of the discussant was a pompous labour exporter
herself – explaining how Uganda is now at per with the Philippines.
Uganda under NRM watch has effectively legitimised slavery.
I have started on an investigation to understand how and where these
young girls work and under what conditions. I am told they are bought
ten million ($2702 US) and work under a contract for two years or
three years depending. A days work ranges between 13 -16 hours a day.
No leave, no bonus.
Poverty is forcing Ugandans into modern slavery and early death.
Once again, people within the state apparatus are the drivers and
beneficiaries of this shameful trade. My initial study of this trade
shows no pride whatsoever of these young girls without any rights and
labour union to support their work.
You just need to sit around Entebbe air port to see the arrivals.
It is a sad story in our times all Ugandans MUST involved into to seek
a resolution.
