{UAH} Westerners fighting with Kurds face uncertain future after defeat of Isis
Frank Mujabi,
What should be done to the young Brits who went to fight against Isis and on the side of the Kurds? A majority of them were either anarchists or communists who believed they responded to an internationalist duty to help fellow human beings facing extermination. In marxism, communists have a duty to take action anywhere in the world where humanity is threatened. The best example of this is probably the Spanish Civil War when General Franco imposed fascism in the country and declared a war of extermination against the Spanish people. Communists from allover the world, including from Africa, rushed to Spain to join in the war, on the side of the Spanish people. They all believed they were fighting a just war, and thousands sacrificed their lives. The writer George Orwell was one of those who picked up arms to fight General Franco.
With these young Brits, I think they will just return and quietly resume ordinary lives, although the security services will keep an eye on them for sometime to come.
