{UAH} Gyan threatens to leave team before AFCON 2019 and retire from national team

Here is Asamoah Gyan threatening to retire from international football unless he is kept as captain. I think Asamoah's beef is with the press and the lurid way in which they covered his divorce. He now thinks the press is against him. But he also has a point, if the Manager is not going to reappoint him as captain, then it is probably better to exclude him and have a fresh start. He has been a great captain, is still the top Ghanaian record goal scorer, and has served the country for almost 15 years. He should be allowed to retire in dignity as one of their greatest ever players.

Asamoah Gyan says if the decision of the coach is to give captaincy of the tournament to another player while he's named in the team for the tournament, he wishes to recuse himself from the tournament.
