{UAH} One in four Ugandan children out of school

Tony Owana,

You hurl banal accusations of megalomania and hubris when I ask you to review the ludicrous claim by your boss and benefactor Kayibanda that his former mistress Jenniffer Musisi did nothing for him despite 4 years of bonk.I hope you will not hurl similar or even worse accusations for asking a much simpler and straightforward question this time: WHERE DOES THE EDUCATION OF UGANDAN CHILDREN FALL IN THE NRA 10 POINT PROGRAMNME?

I attach the report below for you attention and reference..

Thank You,

Bobby

The report ranks 176 countries on children's access to essential services and protection from harmful practices, based on a set of indicators.

CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

In spite of significant achievements in Universal Primary Education (UPE), about one in every four Ugandan children are still out of school, a new report released on Thursday reveals.

The Global Childhood Report published by Save the Children, a child rights organisation, highlights positive progress across a range of child development indicators.

It, however, shows that millions of children are still out of school, go to bed hungry, cannot access adequate healthcare, and suffer from child marriage and teen pregnancy.

The report ranks 176 countries on children's access to essential services and protection from harmful practices, based on a set of indicators.

It shows that Uganda has fallen six places in the rankings since last year and is now listed 136th out of 176 countries, behind countries such as Rwanda and Ethiopia.

The report was published as Save the Children commemorated 100 years of existence. The organisation was founded 100 years ago in 1919.

The organisation currently operates in more than 120 countries and has worked in Uganda for sixty years, since 1959.

Brechtje van Lith, Save the Children's Country Director in Uganda, said at the launch of the report in Kampala that the country has made progress in some areas but more effort was needed.

"This report shows there is a lot of progress to celebrate over the past few decades, and we can see the impact that investing in development can have on children's lives. We are moving in the right direction, but we are not moving fast enough," she stated.

"There are still far too many girls and boys in Uganda who do not have access to quality education or decent healthcare and are forced into marriage or work when they are still children. Now we need to accelerate this progress to reach every last child. This is the time to increase investment in children or else risk this progress being reversed."

Globally, the report shows that more children are better off today than they would have been 20 years ago. However, one in four children are deprived of their right to a safe and healthy childhood.
