{UAH} Meet Ghana's only doctor who is a specialist in children's heart problems

62 Years after the end of colonialism, and Ghana still has only one children's heart specialist.. This is a country of 30 million people a third of them would be children. that is one specialist cardiologist for 10 million children. Who cursed Africa? Yesterday I went to see my Tanzanian friend at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, South London. He had suffered a massive cardiac arrest and was rushed there as an emergency admission.. He was immediately put in intensive care.He had 2 surgeons, 4 cardiologists, a team of anaesthetists, and a team of specialist nurses- about 30 highly trained medical personell attending to him. And this is a General Hospital, which was able to mobilise literally within seconds and be ready to save my friend's life.He has now been transferred to a specialist Heart Hospital, where hopefully he will pull through. These sound like insane luxuries for countries like Uganda where uneducated thugs like Rwandan outlaw Kayibanda Museveni are in charge. Africa needs to wake up. We are trapped in the heart of darkness.

The whole of Ghana, 30 or so million people, can only rely on one paediatric cardiologist. If your baby or little child has heart complications, Dr Nana-Akyaa Yao is the only one you can call.

The entire country of Ghana has one paediatric cardiologist in the person of Dr Nana-Akyaa Yao and although one in 100,000 births in Ghana is a baby with heart complications, Dr Yao is the only one we can call.
