SELFISH KIKUYU TYCOONS WILL DESTROY KENYA

You cannot erect a house by propping up one side and demolishing the other side that stabilizes it.

If you go ahead and do that you will remain in the same position with no change.

Uhuru Kenyatta will never gain the stable Kenya he is seeking by one sided reconciliation with Raila to the exclusion of Ruto.

He should have involved Ruto from the start and negotiated with Raila with one voice.

That he chose not to fo do is a continuing mystery which shall unravel in the post BBI report period.

But let me be very clear on one thing.

Raila and Uhuru have set a bad precedent which election losers will from now on use to gain their way to power through political blackmail.

Uhuru caved in to Raila because of the street riots Raila and his party instigated.

He is now doing everything under the sun to make Raila happy and contented.

Even to the ridiculous extent that we now have a substantive President at sunrise and a shadow President at sunset.

Last week while the sunrise President remained silent the shadow President at sunset issued a virtual order to CS Agriculture Kiunjuri not to import maize claiming there was enough maize in the country.

The sunrise President has yet to weigh in on the issue.

We have a dysfunctional and corrupt regime where all projects have stalled. On top of that we now the worst scenario of a divided Cabinet.

Even worse is the situation where last week a mere PS in the form of Karanja Kibicho was rude to his second in command. His rudeness was not only an affront to the DP but an assault on the office Ruto holds.

In 1980 when I was a senior Nation reporter the board of directors created a new post of assistant managing editor despite vigorous opposition by the editor in chief and the managing editor. The post was given to a Ph.D. holder with no background in journalism.

My two bosses instigated me to fristrate the assistant managing editor but called me off the moment they saw me being rude to him. They realised that if they let me do that to the new guy I would in time learn to be rude to them too.

Uhuru is relying too much on befuddled dinosaurs like Muthaura who wants a coalition government of winners and losers.

What then is the use of having a multiparty system? Let us go back to one-party system.

This Handshake issue is being driven by selfish Kikuyu tycoons who are behind the clamour of guarding Kikuyu interests in 2022.

It doesn't need rocket science to realise that what they mean is they are worried about losing the cookie jar to whoever comes in in 2022.

Uhuru should not deceive us that his sole concern in The Handshake is the peace and stability the country is enjoying.

He is well aware that if the Kalenjins become disaffected because of his Handshake with Raila  their reaction would not be just throwing stones and looting shops as Raila supporters did in 2017.

It would be worse. This country will  burn as it did 2007-08.

What is to stop Ruto and his Kalenjin doing on a  bigger scale what Raila and his Luos did 2017  if they are the losers?

Will there be another Handshake this time with Ruto at the expense of Raila?

The solution does not lie in ejecting Ruto snd replacing him with Raila. It will not work because Ruto side will do what Raila side did in 2017.

Whoever does  not realise this is blind as a bat.
