I look back at the days of my young age...In the village where we grew up, there were men and women of no character....having failed in life themselves,these men and women who would be village nuisances and hence rejects would have no opportunity to address society at formal functions.

But on a day a person would die, they would turn the night vigil into a podium and a platform of some sorts and as reasonable members of society would be soulfully keeping quite in the cold of the night, the village rejects would start hurling insults at a particular well to do individual(s) while praising another. The villagers would laugh under their blankets as the village rejects attacked and slandered their collegues for whatever reason they would choose.

However after somedays, I would hear my Mother and her friends quietly conversing that it's so and so who bought Waragi for those people to abuse so and so...The village rejects were only microphones of a person(s) who had a grudge or score to settle with a collegue.

Unfortunately no one had monopoly over these village rejects,today they would abuse a person and a few days later abuse the very person they were praising...it would all depend on who had bought them waragi that day.

They had nothing to lose...it wasn't self contradiction for them to abuse someone today and praise him the other day. But there were strongmen and women who would never fall for blackmail...they would never buy waragi for anybody,once in a while they would be attacked by the village rejects but they would keep quite...instead they would walk into a person's compound at a good day and ask him why she/he bought waragi for the village rejects to abuse and slander them.

Modernity has brought a new set of the would be yesterday's village rejects, they are here on Facebook, on Whatusp and the also call radio and TV stations...they are a political tool of politicians and front for mafia business people...they slander great politicians and other successful people with ease.In fact today this has turned out to be an industry of some sorts and it fetches alot of money and a celebrity status for these nuisances of society.

Like my Mother, we grown up people get to know those who remunerate our "modern society rejects"...And like any humanbeing, we also feel a bit unsettled when slandered....But overtime one needs to develop a hard skin and like the strong villagers of the past, refuse never fall for blackmail...No one should mistake attacks form " a Society reject" as being his/her own words, these are words of collegues, the sponsor might even be standing by our side.Have a nice Friday.
