{UAH} Military Raids BoU Mbale Currency Center, All Staff Suspended for Stealing Sacks Old Currency Notes
The Central Bank is at again after military raided Mbale Currency Center and arrested a number of its staff on allegations of stealing old.
TrumpetNews reports that others have since been suspended.
The news site adds that those arrested, according to an official are three in number and were busted with sacks of old banknotes meant to be destroyed.
Instead these unscrupulous workers kept the money in a room inside the currency centre awaiting to be shared amongst themselves.
Bank of Uganda took a stern action on Wednesday afternoon after confirming with its security cameras that its staff had been been recorded stealing the money.
Charity Mugumya, Bank of Uganda publicist couldn't be reached for a comment.
Her deputy Kelvin Kiyingi was also not available.
By the time of filing his report, military had just released a lareg number of staff who had been locked inside the bank as security officials took action and arrested the masterminds of this theft.
