{UAH} UNAA welcomes Endiro Coffee to the Trade and Investments Forum
2019 UNAA Trade and Investments Forum
Community Members.
We are extremely excited about one of the companies that we will be featuring at the UNAA Trade and Investments Forum in Chicago next weekend.
We are all familiar with the story of an American company like Pizza Hut or KFC expanding into and opening up stores in Uganda. But can you think of an instance where a Ugandan company expanded into and opened up stores in the US?
It is our absolute pleasure to introduce to you Endiro Coffee.
Endiro was the brainchild of Gloria Katusiime who in 2010 started a single coffee shop to raise money to buy basic items for children in Uganda. In 2013, Gloria met Cody Lorance, an American who was simply travelling through Uganda, and the two formed a partnership. The two had a commonality of being Christians, and decided to see if they could use their business to help accomplish what they saw as their mission; to help children who are vulnerable everywhere. They adopted a business model designed to not only make the coffeehouses flourish, but to create wealth in the coffee-growing villages that supplied the coffee — in short to allow everyone along the chain to make a living too.
Over time, Endiro grew to 5 coffee shops in different cities around Uganda with a business mission to end child vulnerability in Uganda and the world.
Then this is where the story becomes really cool and exciting.
In 2017, Endiro ventured into the US market and opened its first store in downtown Aurora, Illinois. The success of this store has been so phenomenal that the partners are now in the process of opening a wholesale warehouse and roaster. According to Lorance, one of the goals of the company is to become a major coffee wholesaler in North America.
Please join us to meet and listen to Cody Lorance at the 2019 UNAA Trade and Investments Forum in Chicago on Friday August 30th.
