{UAH} Wasswa Balunywa is new Governor of Bank of Uganda

Prof. Waswa Balunywa The Principal of Makerere University Business School has been appointed Governor Bank of Uganda. 

He holds a PhD from University of Sterling (2009), MBA University of Delhi (1981), a Bachelor of Commerce, University of Delhi (1979). He went to Namasagali College for A' level and Jinja College for O' level.

The politics of this appointment is interesting to read:

First, this is not gonna make Louis Kasekende unhappy. 

He thought he would take over the governorship, given he has been Deputy governor for a very long time. He was fighting Tumusiime Mutebile for his entire last term. The Scandals at Bank of Uganda made sure that the appointing authority looks for another clean pair of hands from elsewhere and not risk with Louis Kasekende.... 

It is also a big blow to the ambitious Keith Muhakanizi, who was scheming to take over at Bank of Uganda after Tumusiime Mutebile. His fights with Anite, the state minister for finance over what is now known as UTL saga didn't help Keith Muhakanizi's case for the job. He is a bully and very corrupt. 

This is also a big win for those who have always wanted to see Wasswa Bulunywa removed from Makerere University Business School...a big win for Janet Museveni who just recently had decided not to renew Wasswa Bulunywa's contract as the head of MUBS.
