{UAH} The African Union is gradually making itself redundant and irrelevant.

AFRICAN UNION appears to be doing nothing about the problems of the African continent and its people. The crises and the challenges are here and there - all over the places - with foreign powers infiltrating daily and taking strategic positions to get themselves established economically and militarily on the continent. Yet the continental body sees nothing wrong and remains silent and mute, and above all, inactive. From all practical indications, the African Union, as it is today, is several times worse than the OAU - its predecessor. Those who formed it did not do proper homework and had no foresight at all hence the present inertia.  what the OAU did in the 60s is far better than what we are perceiving now.

 The African Union is a victim of its Constitutive Act. Africa needs an African Union of Civil Societies and Corporate Entities to check the inefficiencies of the African Union of States.

  Since the leaders of the individual countries can hardly make success out of their leadership, much should not be expected of them as members of the AU.
