See the plight of the Conservative Party. Boris Johnson has completely destroyed this once might election machine. He has completely disillussioned its moderate wing called "Compassionate Conservatism" and pitted it against the hard right  nationalist and fascist revivalist wing.. In many ways, Johnson has done almost the same thing Trump has done to the Republican Party in the USA.
