See how vindictive the Conservatives are? The Labour Party would never stand in the way of its member, unless he has committed a crime. Even thugs like Tony Blair can get peerages if they want. The Labour Party is too dignified to stand in his way.

The Government is set to break with 250 years of precedent and refuse to offer John Bercow a peerage after he stands down as Speaker.
