Sentenced to minimum 17 years in prison
Kamari Gordon (26.02.02) of Brookdene Road, SE18, was handed a life sentence to serve a minimum of 17 years, for the murder of 18-year-old Aron Warren in 8 December 2018.
Gordon had previously been convicted at the same court on Tuesday, 4 June where he was also found guilty of possessing a knife in public.
The court heard that on 8 December 2018, Gordon stabbed Aron twice at his home address in Prior Street, Greenwich before taking multiple items from his home, including two knives and a Rolex watch.
An investigation was launched by the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command. Detectives tracked down witnesses who identified the suspect, who was 16 at the time of the murder, as being outside the victim's third storey flat at least five minutes before the offence took place.
He was also seen acting aggressively by showing off a large knife – later established as being used to murder Aron – and threatening that he was going to "see Irish", referring to the victim who was of Irish descent.
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called at 21:41hrs while a member of the public conducted CPR, but Aron was pronounced dead at the scene at 22:20hrs.
Officers worked quickly to identify the offender following witness interviews, and secured vital evidence, including the stolen property, through a search warrant carried out at the Gordon's home address. Forensic work identified the victim's blood on footwear belonging to the defendant while CCTV placed him at the scene before and after the murder took place.
Recovered from Gordon's home address was a photo taken on his iPad of him posing with the watch belonging to the victim – this was taken only five hours after the murder.
He was arrested on 11 December 2018, and charged two days later.
