Ottawa flights cancelled as Dorian marches towards East Coast

Hurricane Dorian’s march towards Canada’s East Coast has caused a number of flight cancellations at Ottawa airport.

By about 11:30 a.m., nine flights to Atlantic Canada had been cancelled.

The hurricane has already caused rainstorms in the area and is expected to pass through Saturday evening with winds of 140 km/h and gusts of up to 165 km/h.

Much of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador are under hurricane, tropical storm and rainfall warnings, while there are rainfall, wind, storm surge and tropical storm warnings for PEI and rainfall warnings for New Brunswick.

The airport urges travellers to check ahead.
