The post will provide expertise in urban digital futures around smart
cities and communities, big data and what is increasingly termed
'PropTech' and/or 'PlanTech'. This is grounded in quantitative social
science to address contemporary and future grand challenges in Real
Estate and Urban Planning. The post holder will be expected to be
undertaking leading-edge research, such as around methods, techniques
and/or applications in PropTech / PlanTech, to inform the future smart
and digital city. The post holder will be expected to translate their
research and findings to the policy and decision making community in
ways which will influence policy and practice in cities across the
globe. The ability to collaborate with relevant organisations, such
as technology companies, will be a desirable asset of the post holder.
The postholder will become a member of staff in the Department of
Planning and Environmental Management and will therefore be expected
to have a PhD in a relevant field such as planning, real estate, built
environment or relevant social science.
Location : Oxford Road, Manchester
Closing Date (DD-MM-YYYY) : 25/09/2019
Salary : £40,792 to £50,132 per annum (according to relevant experience)
Employment Type : Permanent
Faculty / Organisational Unit : Humanities
Hours Per week : Full and Part Time posts available
Contract Duration : An initial four-year Fellowship leading to a
permanent and appropriate academic contract (subject to satisfactory
performance)
