{UAH} A tigers penis does not erect even when aroused
Tigers are often looked as being one of the most beautiful yet ferocious animals and perhaps this is a sole driving factor that makes them even more interesting creatures. On today's Nature and Wildlife, we will learn some interesting thing about Tigers.
1. Tigers are the largest cat species in the world and the third-largest carnivore on land; only polar and brown bears are larger. An adult Amur or Siberian tiger (the largest subspecies) can weigh up to 660 pounds.
2. Tigers are solitary hunters, and generally search for food alone at night. They quietly stalk their prey until they are close enough to pounce; then they kill their victim with a bite to the neck or back of the head. Ouch!
3. Unlike most members of the cat family, tigers like water. They are good swimmers and often cool off in pools or streams.
4. No two tigers have the same stripes. Like human fingerprints, their stripe patterns are unique to each individual.
5. Not the fastest runner in the animal kingdom but the fact that Tigers have very strong legs makes them sprint more or less than 60 kilometres per hour, but it is only possible for short distances.
6. The smell that emits from tigers urine smells like buttered popcorn, don't get tempted because it also signifies a warning sign to the intruders in their territory. Tigers also scratch trees to mark their territories.
7. Tigers can imitate the call of other animals. Tigers make sounds similar to that of some animals that draws these innocent animals into the trap and get ambushed.
8. A tigers penis does not erect even when aroused. Instead, they contain a bone (called a baculum) and are covered with barbs which help maintain connection during copulation.
9. A tiger's tongue is so rough that it can lick a paint off a wall.
10. It's estimated that tiger hunts are only successful about one in every 10 to 20 attempts.
Nature and Wildlife will be back next week with more animal facts.
