In the 1950s when I was in Primary School, in present-day Luuka District such a spectacle could never be allowed. May be it was because the Chief Inspector of Schools in Busoga was a White man called Herriward. But even the black inspector of Schools called Mufumba, would never take it lightly if a pupil of that type was allowed in school. The school had its own Tailor. The moment you joined school he would come and take your measurements, go and make your uniform of nice Khaki cloth and deliver it to you
