GOP challenger to Katie Hill calls for her resignation amid ‘throuple’ allegations

A freshman California congresswoman reportedly carried on a long-term “throuple”...

Rep. Katie Hill’s GOP challenger has called for her to step down amid allegations she was involved in a “throuple” with her husband and a younger female staffer.

The California Democrat was urged to resign Tuesday over reports she engaged in an unconventional relationship with the unidentified campaign worker and her now-estranged husband, Kenny Heslep, beginning in 2017.

The openly bisexual congresswoman denied the alleged three-way relationship, as well as claims that she had a separate affair with her legislative director, Graham Kelly. The alleged trysts were exposed by conservative outlet RedState amid her bitter divorce from Heslep.

In the wake of the allegations, Republican opponent Angela Underwood Jacobs issued a statement Tuesday demanding the congresswoman’s resignation.

“While I believe that elected officials should be afforded a reasonable level of privacy, Ms. Hill’s relationships with two different members of her staff cross the line of ethical boundaries that members of Congress should be held to,” said Underwood Jacobs, who is challenging the freshman congresswoman in the 2020 race.

Underwood Jacobs said the state’s 25th District “deserves better than Katie Hill’s unethical behavior and poor judgment.”

“Ms. Hill’s behavior exhibits extremely poor judgment — it violates House ethics and it could have put our nation at risk due to her heightened potential to be blackmailed,” Underwood Jacobs continued.

She added that it was “particularly problematic” that Hill continued to serve on the House Oversight Committee, which is engaging in an impeachment inquiry into President Trump, given what the challenger says was “unethical behavior.”

“I implore Ms. Hill to resign not only from her role on the Oversight Committee, but also from her post as our congresswoman,” she said.

Hill insisted that the explosive allegations are a smear campaign that was facilitated by her “abusive” husband.

“The fact is I am going through a divorce from an abusive husband who seems determined to try to humiliate me,” she said in a statement to The Post. “I am disgusted that my opponents would seek to exploit such a private matter for political gain. This coordinated effort to try to destroy me and people close to me is despicable and will not succeed.”

She continued, “This smear campaign will not get in the way of the work I am doing every day to move our district and our country forward. I am truly grateful for the outpouring of support I have received from colleagues and constituents alike, and I know we will get through this together.”
