{UAH} Sweden Cuts Funding to Makerere: Way Forward
The Swede can't understand that Uganda and Africa can have policies
and implementable projects that are not backed up with long term
research.
And as if Ugandan academics can't learn anything, our old habits
continues with ad-hoc-lism.
Uganda now has over 340 PhDs and about 5 Professors out of the above program.
Some really smart Ugandans have also become employed or retained by
Swedish Universities and corporate entities as researchers or
teachers.
Influx of International Corporations.
With the influx of international corporations gaining pace, Ugandans
in the diasporas need to get really busy. Get a small office in you
Town, in your professional and or Interest area, manned by some well
educated fellow.
Ugandans themselves can form consortium in Media, Tourism,
Engineering, Architecture, Medicine, Infrastructure Engineering,
Product Development, Filming (many USA/European entities are buying
Uganda short made films-Netflix, Apple), Writivism, Music, Information
Communication Technology, Law etc., to develop tools, software and
hardware patented and sold forward.
The Times owner is looking for African fashionista!
The owners of National Geography Magazine want good nature photos
These and many more areas are emerging sectors, started by BBC, Google
and Microsoft picked up by Facebook.
Today, there are young Ugandans men and women selling ware on the
internet from a dollar times many customer a day. What matters is how
big and wide is the market capture.
So having a website talking about yourself as the best knowledgeable
Acoli , Itesot dish chef is not a stupid idea.
What is driving Uganda journalist to have their own blogs? News is
bought from those blogs! Right now, those who have learnt from the
Trade are deeper in Ituri forest, South Sudan, Somali get a juicy
stories before they reach the screens in Europe.
The income is good.
What matters is to use that space and look for like interested parties
who you are most likely to find in a medium run in plenty.
