{UAH} Two police officers could be charged over Dalian Atkinson death

WBK/ Moses Nekyon,

Do you remember Dalian Atkinson, the Aston Villa striker who also played a few games for England?  He was killed by police in 2016 when they turned up at his father's home to sort out a dispute between them  but instead tasered him to death. There has been an investigation since to establish whether the police were justified to use the force they did against an unarmed man, even if  he was resisting arrest. It is likely the policemen involved  will now be charged with murder.

Dalian Atkinson is remembered by football fans for having scored one of the greatest solo goals of all time, against Wimbledon FC in 1992, the season in which newly promoted Aston Villa under Graham Taylor almost won the title on the back of his goals and a  mean defence  brilliantly marshalled by the great Paul McGrath, but came second,  narrowly  beaten to the title by Alex Ferguson's emergent golden generation at Manchester United.

The move saw Atkinson pick up the ball in his own half, before embarking on a mazy run that fends off four attempted tackles and chipping Wimbledon goalkeeper Hans Segers when spotting the Dutchman off his line.

The iconic strike has become one of the most  memorable moments in Premier League history. It was also crowned the FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE  GOAL OF THE SEASON. It is certainly one of the greatest goals ever scored, and still ranks in the top three of the best goals scored in England.
