{UAH} UPC PHASED OUT OF BULANGE MMENGO
On one of the fora, l was called names , but founder members of UPC in
1960, were the founder members of Kabaka Yekka in 1962 and architects
of UPC-KY alliance (1962-1964) and after Obote had crushed Muteesa in
1966, crossed over to UPC and enjoyed at home in exile while Mutesa
and his family were suffering in exile and at home.
During Obote ll, the same group had teamed up with Paulo Muwanga to
bring back the Ssaabtaka, as Amin had allowed the Buganda kabka to be
called, and were cut short by the Okellos coup.
They were outsmarted and the Ssaabataka was brought to liberated areas
by John Nagenda and Besuel Mulondo of NRM External Committee.
Upon reinstatement of institutions of traditional and cultural leaders
in 1993, the UPC group outsmarted NRM and took over and recruited new
cadres not necessarily UPC.
As we talk now, the UPCs are being edged out and the strategy is working well.
