The Minister for Water and Environment, Mr  Sam Cheptoris  has confirmed the appointment of four people to the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) board.

The four whose appointment was approved by Cabinet recently are; Ms Racheal Kiconco Mbabazi the daughter of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Ms Sarah Onyiru, Mr Rungs George Muzungyo and Rtd Col. Stephen Mwesigye Basaliza.

Mr Mbabazi served as Prime Minister of Uganda from 2011 until 2014 when he decided to contest against his former boss, President Museveni who is the chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement.

After the 2016 elections, he has been in politically inactive and he hardly makes public statements.

"We have four new members who are replacing those whose contracts expired sometime back. For us, even if you are in opposition, we bring you in," he said when asked to name the appointees.

Asked how the board members are appointed, he said anybody can be appointed provided they are approved by Cabinet.
