{UAH} Kenya's Deputy President suffers humiliating loss in a Nairobi Parliamentary Bye-Election

Folks;

Since Tuesday elections in the US, anecdotal commentaries have drawn sharp focus on the governorship race in the state of Kentucky, where the incumbent narrowly lost, though he's protesting through some obscure legal means.

Commentators have argued that President Trump, who enthusiastically campaigned for the incumbent, up to just hours before the polls opened, also suffered in that defeat.

Analogous to the Kentucky gubernatorial race was the bye-election in the Nairobi city constituency of Kibra, called to elect the area's late MP.

The two leading contestants, Ben Okoth, younger brother to the late MP, and McDonald Mariga, a famous soccer player, were heavily promoted by Kenya's two leading political combatants, Opposition leader, Raila Odinga and Deputy President, William Ruto respectively.

Mr. Ruto repeatedly vowed to "teach" Raila a lesson by way of defeating Raila's candidate.

Well, the people went to the polls today, and sent their own message: Ruto's candidate lost so badly that before the vote counting was over, he had conceded defeat.

Which raises an interesting question: was Ruto's man a weaker candidate than Raila's or, did Raila make a better case for his man?
