{UAH} SARAH DUTERTE FOR PRESIDENT

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte is seen here preparing his daughter for succession. Unlike in Uganda where a tyrant like Kayibanda Rubatasirwa AKA Kaguta Museveni can abuse the constitution and grow younger rather than older every year he is power in order to remain under 75 years of age,  the Philippines has fixed constitutional term of only 7 years for a president, and he or she is forbidden to run in any future elections after the end of the 7 year term. Duterte therefore has less than 3 years before his term ends and he has to step down. For a man who enjoys the trappings of power, this seems too much to swallow. Hence trying to find another way of hanging on to power.

To go around this constitutional road block of a 7 year fixed term, ruling families in the Philippines have formed political dynasties that put sons and daughters in succession to their fathers as candidates in presidential elections. So it is not uncommon to find a son succeeding a father or a daughter succeeding a father.  In nearly 250 years of democracy in the Philippines, all presidents have come from only 6 families, all scions of powerful land-holding political dynasties who own and control nearly 70% of all land in a country of 120 million people. Only three presidents have been elected outside of the established political dynasties, and these were the dictator Ferdinand Marcos, movie star Joseph Estrada and current president Rodrigo Duterte who was elected on a largely anti-establishment, anti-Manila and pro- southern Philippines ticket.

Duterte is attempting to create his own political dynasty based on anti-Manila, southern Philippines-Mindanao resentment of northern domination of the country for over 250 years.
