{UAH} Court nullifies election of six MPs: What are the implications of so many MP mostly NRM MPs elected in new districts created since?

Folks:

the Court of appeal has made a  landmark ruling:

The key insight is this :

"Vacancies would occur in the municipalities of Apac, Sheema, Ibanda, Nebbi, Bugiri and Kotido with necessary demarcation by the second respondent (EC) and would be available for contest in the next general elections upon dissolution of the sitting parliament or unless any particular existing seat becomes vacant under articles 83 and 84 of the constitution."

In plain English, sure NRM was at liberty to create new municipalities but doing so did not NECCESARILY mean those new area were to be represented with new MPs. Put dife4rently, the seats may have been subdivide for the next elections, but the siting MPs are DEEMED to be still representing the electoral areas they were elected in. .

So the media, people, how many sitting MPs may be affected by the ruling? Granted the ruling nullifies 6 seats but what about women seats created in the new districts since the last elections?

It goes without saying that if the 6 could be nullified the other seats emanating from creation of news electoral seats such as districts will also not survive the ruling.  So how many women MPs have been elected in new districts since the last elections? What happens to the craze for new districts that automatically guaranteed new women MPs?

The Court is really saying that the executive and EC can create all the seats they want BUT representation in those seats will commence after the next general election. That is YKM and NRM cannot suddenly inflate the numbers of seats midstream.

So the media people should help us out: how many MPs were elected at the last elections? How many MPs have been elected since that session was sworn in?  The court is saying all those MPs who were elected in newly created electoral areas are actually in office illegally and SHALL suffer the fate of the six.

I suspect some of the MPs vacated their  old seats to contests in new electoral areas and now find themselves sin political limbo until 2021.

It makes a lot of legal and common-sense.

The message to YKM and NRM is to rethink the subdivision and costly representation mid stream.

this is the type of ruling that should interest us on UAH not so much excessive copying and posting. Come on.

what happened to originality in  Ugandan online forums?
