Masaka Grade one magistrate has today morning granted bail to Hon Theodore SSekikubo, the Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament after the state failed to adduce court records regarding his alleged skipping of bail in 2010. He was arrested on Friday.

Ssekikubo was remanded yesterday to prison after state attorney Masaka grade one court told the trial magistrate that the accused had skipped court summons many times in the an attempted murder case which he committed in 2010.

However Ssekikubo's lead counsel Medard Segona told the trial magistrate before his client could be remanded that state prosecutor has no record and evidence to show court that his client had skipped the court summons adding that the state knows Ugandan parliament where Hon Ssekikubo sits every day and even knows his home in Lwemiyaga.

The trial magistrate however went on and remanded him up to today and ordered the state prosecutor to produce records but he failed to show any evidence that Hon Ssekikubo had skipped the summons thus granting him court bail.

Hon Ssekikubo was arrested on Friday morning amidst teargas and live bullets to disperse his supporters who had gathered in the cattle market in Lwemiyaga County.

His arrest came after him and livestock farmers in the area attempted to forcefully enter Lwemiyaga Cattle Market which police had closed some two weeks back.
