Hello people

Here is a bit of advice to Canadian holders of Permanent Resident and Citizen statuses keen on working in the federal government sector or organizations affiliated to federal government that require Security Clearance for employment.

Many private sector organizations that work with federal government and the entire federal government and agencies require an employee to have or posses Security Clearance. Frightening as this may sound, the process to obtain one is steeped in bureaucratic rigidity involving - behind the scene - all facets of security establishments in the country. 

My corporation, Specialized Information Group of Professionals (SIGro Professionals, Inc.) has been cleared by federal government authorities to offer contract services to citizens and permanent residents intent on working in federal government or affiliated private sector organizations.

Applicant is NOT charged any fees to request or renew Security Clearance. Once cleared, one its good for 8 years - ceteris paribus (all other factors constant) for applicant. It can be revoked should any high level criminal offense occur.

There are four levels of Security Clearance, viz: Enhanced Reliability, Secret, Top Secret and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). All can be obtained through SIGro Professionals, Inc.

These levels of securityare needed to safeguard sensitive information, assets and work sites

Applications for Security Clearance is all done online with the online forms provided by Treasury Board Canada completed with information provided by both applicant and CSO submitted to Public Works & Government Services for review. Security Clearance may be denied, revoked, suspended or pending further investigations, as deemed appropriate.

Again, there is no fee to apply.Unless otherwise, levels are obtained bottom up - no jumping the queue. That means starting from Enhanced Reliability to NATO clearance with one allowed to posses more than one level of secuirty clearance.

Initial request will require applicant to undergo finger-print by a certified and approved organization to be used by review authorities in conducting criminal checks on applicant and any other info as deemed necessary by CSO. Recent addition in screening is Credit Check.

"Requesting a new reliability status

Security screening for reliability status requires a 5-year background check. The company security officer (CSO) or alternate company security officer (ACSO) is responsible for verifying the applicant's identity, education and professional credentials.

To request a new reliability status, the CSO or ACSO and the employee need to complete and submit a personnel screening, consent and authorization form (TBS/SCT 330-23E):

1. review the instructions on how to complete the personnel screening, consent and authorization form
2. complete the form by:
   1. using the online security services portal (recommended option). Learn about completing and submitting the form online
   2. filling out the personnel screening, consent and authorization form on paper
3. submit the form"
