{UAH} pooling funds together to invest
I have floated an idea that Uganda start owning fresh food depots in
the Middle East and indeed Europe and USA
Alternatively in fresh food supply chain to have vertical integration
i.e. getting some global mega super markets, food suppliers,
distribution get involved into the production and at the processing
levels.
NRM is ideology i processing not exporting unfinished products.
Moreover or crop production system is not inline with global fresh
food trade who normal by immature items. Avocado crop due march wold
be harvested now. pineapples and cabbages would have been harvested in
November December
Incomes are too low for sure and it is a disaster - people will be
living village droves in the next 2-3 years

Since you claim to know Kangulumira fairly well kindly help me here.
If you drive from Mukono taking the Kayunga road,
Mukono-Ndese-Bukoloto-Kangulumira back to Jinja road, you see homes
facing that road and on both sides. How many children living in all
those houses have parents that can manage to buy them a glass of
pineapple juice every day? One glass of juice every morning. I am not
so much in a certified figure, I can work with a percentage.
Thank you.

Ms Kasule:
I know Kangulumira fairly well as a place famous for pineapples. Part
of the solution may be forming farmers groups/coops to manage their
activities including searching for markets.
What we need to know is the capacity of the juice making factories and
their relationship with pineapple farmers. Do the firms care about
framers? Do they have nay bindings arrangements with the farmers etc.

_____
WBK,
Yes, the supply is too much and demand has gone down. As a result, our
people in Kangulumira have now switched from growing pineapple to
Sugarcane

Interesting. You are saying the supply is simply too much. Why cannot
the factories mop up excessive production?. They can produce more
packaged items.
Things are happening despite the order.

_____
True
There are now countless products on the market - pineapple wine ,
apple wine on a small scale
But these are medium scale commercial factories are specifically
processing pineapple juice besides
Soroti mangoes juice that has newly hit the market.
