THE REFORM AGENDA EMAIL!
The year was 2003. Reform Agenda had existed for just over one year. The tensions were always high. The efforts by the junta to infiltrate us were constantly increasing. At that time, the junta had just passed a law to the effect that one couldn't run for President if you had lived outside of Uganda for more than three years. Of course they were targeting Kizza Besigye who was in exile then. That law was however quashed by court.
Beti Namisango Kamya had already started her treachery and subversion. A keen "eye" could see all her manoeuvres.
At that time, the then all powerful Ronald Reagan Okumu was one of the Vice Chairpersons of Reform Agenda.
In the Youth League, I had been assigned the position of Secretary for Security and Investigations. With this portfolio, I always took time to monitor individuals we thought were suspect. It's in this that I monitored the activities of the treacherous Namisango.
With enough information, I couldn't wait for Reagan to return from a long trip abroad. I walked into an internet cafe and using my then ACCA student email, typed away all the information I had gathered, summarising it by hitting the send button.
Reagan received the email. Unfortunately, either out of ignorance or deliberately, when he replied my email, it also went to the email thread of the whole leadership of the Reform Agenda, including to Madam Namisango. They all read what I had written. What followed was the flying of probably "hundreds" of emails, from one computer to the other, from one office to another, from one country to another and back, and from across continents. I also received numerous phone calls both local and international. One thing though, much as my email was either deliberately or inadvertently shared, what I had written was factual and I was prepared to defend it.
