Rwenzururu King Mumbere Denounces Yiira State, ICC Petition

Rwenzururu kingdom Queen, Nyabaghole Ithungu on Thursday began her tour of Rwenzori, in an effort to spread a message of peace within the region.
The Queen arrived in Kasese district aboard Ugandan military chopper on Wednesday amid excitement from the locals. Her visit follows a long period of abscence in the kingdom following the raid by government security forces on the Buhikira palace in 2016.
On Thursday, Queen Nyabaghole made a stopover at Kitswamba trading center. She also met widows at Bwesumbu Church of Uganda where she addressed the community. She also addressed the people at Bwesumbu SDA primary school.
According to some of the members of team that accompanied her, among them Ministers in Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu (OBR), the Queen is calling for peace and development in the Rwenzori region.
She delivered communication from the Rwenzururu King, His Royal Highness Charles Wesley Mumbere to the effect that he does not support the FDC ICC petition in regard to the palace raid.
"She is preaching about peace and co-existence. Those spreading Yiira State are wasting time, it will never exist at anytime" – the Rwenzururu Minister of Education, Juliet Best, quoted the Queen as having said.
The Queen is also reported be urging the people of Kasese to focus on development and household incomes.
Queen Nyabaghole has also called for royal guards on the run to come out. Some of the guards are reported to be in the jungles of Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) where they are reported to have joined islamist Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a group blamed for insecurity and mayhem in Eastern DR Congo and earlier in the Rwenzori region of Uganda.
"Very successful rally. The Queen has articulated no for Yira. No to extremism. And called all royal guards to come out" – The Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, Edwin Kugonza told SoftPower News from Bwesumbu where he is accompanying the Queen.
She donated Cash and Hoes to the widows through her initiative Nyabaghole Foundation.
The Queen' Nyabaghole Foundation is supported by the Patron of Uganda Peace Support Team, retired Gen Caleb Akandwanaho (Salim Saleh).
Her visit to Kasese followed recommendations made by the Rwenzori Peace Team which was commissioned by Gen Saleh in 2017 to foster peace in the Rwenzori Region.
On the team, the kingdom is represented by the Queen, the Rwenzururu Prime Minister Edwin Kugonza who leads the team and Mzee Enoch Muhindo the Speaker of the Cultural Parliament.
Other delegates from Rwenzururu include Alfred Makasi, the Kingdom Attorney General and Best Juliet Bakoko the Minister of Education.
The government team led by Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere includes Gen Mbadi, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces (DCDF) and Col James Nkojo of Operation Wealth Creation.
Others are businessman Chris Kaijuka and communications guru, Sarah Kagingo who heads the peace team's secretariat.
The joint committee of government and Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu is chaired by Dr. Ambrose Agona, the Executive Director for National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO).
"Omusinga Mumbere has never instructed any one to go to the International Criminal Court (ICC). He supports dialogue with the Government of Uganda," the Queen told masses in Kasese.
SoftPower News understands that the Queen's visit is supported by Gen Saleh, the Patron of Uganda Peace Support Team.
