{UAH} Strict Terms for Bobi Wine as EC, Police allow him to Consult Again

Presidential Aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi has been cleared for the second time to hold his nationwide consultations.

The People Power leader appeared before the top management of Electoral Commission (EC) demanding answers on why security agencies had been blocking three of his meetings yet he was cleared by the regulator.

The meeting which took place at EC head offices in Kampala on Thursday at 11am was also attended by a delegation from Uganda Police led by Director of Operations AIGP Asuman Mugenyi.

According to an official who was part of the meeting, Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and his team accused police of partiality and illegally quelling their supporters under the guise of Public Order Management Act.

But AIGP Asuman and his colleagues took Bobi Wine through every clause of POMA act, after which he admitted to have erred in some areas within the law.

EC Spokesperson Jotham Taremwa said the purpose of the meeting was to find a leveled ground for both the Presidential Aspirants and law enforcement bodies.

The EC acting as a mediator had to invite Bobi Wine after a series of battles he had engaged in with Uganda Police both in Gayaza and Lira.

"We cautioned him against committing same mistakes as he goes out out there to consult," said Jotham. He earlier said the meeting was "a good one."

EC administrators emphasized that Mr. Kyagulanyi always distinguishes Consultation and Campaign.

On Wednesday police cracked down Bobi Wine's fans in Lira who had converged to receive him at Grand Pacific Hotel.

Security drove him out of town before leaving him at Karuma dam.

On Monday he spent the whole day in police cells at Naggalama in Mukono as he attempted to address a consultative meeting at Gayaza grounds.

Security officials said the venue couldn't meet the minimum standards to host the meeting.
