{UAH} US, Iran list targets of possible counter strikes

Folks;

The United States says it has ear-marked 52 sites to strike, should Iran make any moves that threaten American lives or interest. In a swift rejoinder, Iran now says it, too, has developed a list of 35 sites for potential counter strike.

US and Iran have been at war since 1979. And, as anyone interested in this animosity knows, Iran begrudges the US for having installed the Shah in 1952. The Shah lorded over Iran until the 1979 revolution that brought Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to power.

That was the year that Iranian revolutionaries began their infamous occupation of the US embassy in Tehran that would last for record 144 days.

Throughout the 1980s, Iran and Iraq were at armed conflict, with US officially siding with Saddam Hussein,  while a small hawkish group of unscrupulous Republicans in the Reagan White House secretly sold weapons to Iran, and used the proceeds to fund a rebellion in Nicaragua, what would be known as Iran-Contra scandal..

Iran and US have no love lost for each other..

My fear now, is that President Trump, with his back against the wall following his impeachment and a litany of personal legal setbacks, may see an opportunity here to "validate" his leadership.That validation may include setting Iran afire by nuking it, or raining bombs as he has threatened, just to distract national attention for the rest of the year.

While I don't mourn Sollaimani's death, I decry the choice of location for his assassination. The United States could have tracked this man until he was safely out of the airport and then drop the bombs; so why did they strike inside a civilian airport?

Only terrorists or depraved people launch attacks at civilian airports.
